DESCRIPTION:A brief handlers’ meeting will be held prior to each run block. \n\n\n\nAll dogs will be inspected beginning at 8:00am for AM runs (12:30pm for PM runs) for soundnessprior to running on that event date. \n\n\n\nALL dogs must be checked-in prior to 11:30am for morning runs and prior to 2:00pm forafternoon runs. \n\n\n\nThese events will be run with an established run order to the best ability of the Paddock Master.Adjustments due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances may be necessary. \n\n\n\nAM and PM run start times are 8:30am and 1:00pm.*-All times stated are Eastern Time Zone (ET)Field Hours: 8:00am until all scheduled runs are completed or 2:30pm\, whichever comes first.In the event of inclement weather or other conditions\, or to assist with timely completion of thetest\, the Test Committee may elect to start or end the events earlier\, or later than posted. In anycase\, all entrants present during the posted times will be allowed to run\, if conditions are safe.Lunch: A 60-minute lunch break may be scheduled at the discretion of the Event Committee.Scheduling of Runs / Concurrent Run Procedures / Note to HandlersBoth events are being run concurrently. This means we schedule dogs to run both runs for eachday within a single run block. In this scenario\, if you have one dog entered and you are scheduledin the AM to do both runs\, your two runs will be scheduled approximately 30 runs apart\, givingyour dog time to rest. The PM portion will be run the same way as the AM.

SUMMARY:March 2025 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:A meeting to introduce a new sport Treibball! Treibball is a dog sport that involves using a ball to encourage your dog to herd.  It is a force-free \, positive reinforcement activity that can be fun for both you & your dog. It is simple to play and train this low impact game.  The game is to go onto a playing field\, and guided by their handler\, to push 8 large balls into an area about the size of a soccer goal within a designated time period. \n\n\n\nOur instructor for this meeting is Chris Roeder.  Chris does teach classes for this sport at this facility.  Chris will talk about Treibball and show us how this game is played and how to train your dog. We will have our usual pitch in lunch & a SHORT business meeting.  After lunch\, we will have time for us to try some of the elements that are needed to play this sport. A very fun way to learn a new sport and to give our dogs a chance to try this out in a safe place with an actual trainer. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring\n\n\n\nYour chair\, your drink\, plate & silverware\, and a dish to share. \n\n\n\nFor your dog: Bring a crate if you want them inside or they can stay in your vehicle.  Treats…..for training / rewards

DESCRIPTION:Special Speaker: Dr. Kiersten Forsythe\, Cardiology Resident\, Purdue University \n\n\n\nUpdate on Inherited Canine Cardiac Diseases and Overview of Upcoming Zenalpha Clinical Trial Opportunity at Purdue\n\n\n\nOur knowledge of inherited and acquired canine cardiac disease continues to evolve pretty rapidly. Since our beloved Golden Retrievers are unfortunately\, not exempt from problems in this space\, it makes sense as a breeder and owner to stay abreast of new knowledge. \n\n\n\nFortunately\, not far from many of our homes\, we have one of the top veterinary schools in the United States. As a leading school they are constantly evaluating new tools and approaches for clinicians. clinical trial evaluating echocardiogram effects on a next generation reversible sedative\, Zenalpha will start soon. This trial provides an opportunity to advance important knowledge of the already approved drug and complete some important inherited disease testing at a significantly reduced cost at Purdue.

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again when we honor all our hard-working members and their ac-complishments. It takes many hours of hard work and dedication to earn the titles. \n\n\n\nPlease join us in honoring all the members who have worked this past year and have the battle scars and amusing tales to prove it. For new AND old members AND guests it’s a chance to see the lovely perpetual trophies that are donated by club members or WRGRC gathered together. And\, if dog training is all new\, come and see what you and your dog can do! Everyone started at the beginning sometime! \n\n\n\nPlan to arrive around 12:30 p.m. and we’ll start the buffet at 1:00 p.m. This will give people a chance to mingle. Because our meeting falls on the same day as the BIG football game this year\, our decorations will incorporate a football-party theme.You are encouraged to bring food to share which is customary for that type of event. The club will provide plates\,plastic utensils\, and napkins—no ham. Bring your own soft drinks or bottled \n\n\n\nwater since everyone has their favorites. A brief business meeting will be called to order after lunch\, followed by the awards program. The program will be finished in plenty of time for you to attend other game-related events. \n\n\n\nCome join the fun!
